Advanced Cardiovascular Technician

The Advanced Noninvasive Cardiovascular Technologists program is designed to prepare the student to work as an Echo Tech. After completing the on-campus portion of the training at Central Florida Institute, the student must complete the clinical rotation provided in hospitals and cardiac diagnostic centers. There is a high demand for Echo Techs to perform ultrasound imaging of the heart.

CFI has enhanced the X-Ray portion in the MA training! This extended training prepares the graduate to sit for the BXMO certification - the Florida State Basic X-Ray Machine Operator license. Noninvasive Cardiovascular Technician

The Cardiovascular Technician works in a noninvasive capacity to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating heart (cardiac) and blood vessel (peripheral vascular) ailments or diseases. A Cardiovascular Technician or Noninvasive Cardiovascular Technician may specialize in electrocardiograms (EKGs), Holter monitors, and stress testing. Sometimes a Cardiovascular Technician is referred to as a cardiographic or EKG technician.

Invasive Cardiovascular Technician

Invasive Cardiovascular Technologists assist physicians with cardiac catheterization procedures. Catheterization involves inserting a small tube, known as a catheter, into a patient’s blood vessel and then into the heart. The procedure is done to determine whether the patient has a blockage or heart disease. The procedure may also involve balloon angioplasty, which can be used to treat blockages of blood vessels or heart valves without the need for heart surgery.
